Why Silo & Roy?

Silo & Roy is dedicated to the economic empowerment of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs.

The idea started solely as the LGBTQ+ marketplace and our working title was “Glamazon” but it’s likely we would have been sued on multiple fronts.

We discussed the idea with business owners and it became clear that more than a marketplace was needed and owners were looking for multiple incubator-style services.

Incubator led us to eggs and we thought of the story of Silo & Roy; two same sex penguins who successfully incubated an egg in NYC zoo, giving birth to Tango the chick.

We liked the connection so here we are!

The humans behind the penguins

Jamie and Shahraz are a couple of Brits who moved from London to Philadelphia in 2018.

Jamie has over ten years experience across funding, financial management and capital planning, predominantly for young companies. He has raised over $8M for small businesses to date.

Shahraz has over ten years of operational and sales experience working with companies who want to make better use of their data.

Driven by their dedication to supporting small businesses and tired of corporate rainbow washing, Jamie and Shahraz established Silo & Roy.
